Leaves, dirt and debris build up in driveway drains all through autumn, and nobody notices until the first heavy rain — at which point the water has nowhere to go and ends up where you really don't want it.

Clearing channel drains and French drains before winter is a small job that prevents an expensive one. We clear them out properly, so the water goes where it's supposed to when the weather turns.

The same goes for the rest of the garden. Autumn is one of the best times to get everything prepared for the colder months: a final cut, leaves cleared, borders put to bed, hedges tidied before the growth stops. Do it in October and the garden comes out of winter in far better shape than if it's left until spring.
